Arduino
I'm a playful fan of the Arduino, a cute electronic thing that can sense and control all sorts of things. It is open source and there is a web full of projects and help.
I have realised that my passion is seeing if things can be done, not actually doing them. I've a desk full of projects that I've proved possible and not built. What I must must must do is prove that it is possible to complete something.
My target is to adapt a "colour amplifier" I've made that changes lights to match the colour of whatever is near a sensor, into a kaleidoscope big enough to climb inside. Our summer exhibition "In the Big Treetop" proved the lure of responsive lights and colour, and I can use the Arduino to drive a chain of RGB lanterns . . . so now I just need to now it and make it robust enough to survive children.
